Yuppiechef’s green evolution

Posted on 21. Aug, 2009 by Shane in Yuppiechef Diary

yc_greenWe have been working on a recycling plan for Yuppiechef HQ for sometime now. It’s been an evolution. I received this email from Mike a few days ago – he’s been commissioned to take our recycling to another level. Check it out.

Good day office,

So I have for some time now been trying to ease our recycling woes and the first step in this process is to deal with our paper.

Eventually we’ll have 3 bins: organic, paper and other (everything else). What happens after it gets into those 3 bins is not for you to worry about (you can ask if you want) but I will need all your co-operation to sort them nicely before that. Basically from now on it will hopefully work as such:

Any office white paper – please place in the box I have assigned to the task. It is brown, small and quite shy.

Anything else – please place in your personal bin or the one in the kitchen.

When we get a separate bin for organic stuff we’ll move to phase two of recycling.

So all I am asking for now is no more scrunching of your paper but rather a placing of it gently into our friend Mr. Box. Try and see it as a new method of enjoyment to the disposal of your paper.
Before you had the slow, semi-circular jog towards the bin, the two-handed, frustration-releasing manipulation of your sheet of paper and finally a leap into the air while you try and professionally throw your ‘paper basketball’ into the bin – amid the shouts of the imaginary, on-looking crowd.

From today you shall embark on a journey. A journey of magnitude. No more the arrogant American basketball player, you shall walk with a straight back, high chin and a determined look on your face. You shall cross that border into the unknown; the unchartered territory of a world that recycles, where people are full of joy and satisfaction in a society that takes care of its environment. You shall lay your paper down as one would a new born babe, with care and concern. You shall rise a hero – a pillar of society and meaningful part of this city – and return a conqueror!

Yours in hope,
Mike Little

PS: The bin of freedom is between the Fridge II and the long wooden box. A similar box to the one that would be used to carry you out, should you not consent.

Awesome! Thanks Mike.
