Hello, Cakebread Pudding & Pie

Posted on 03. Sep, 2010 by Marina in People & Places

Kamini Pather is a fiercely loyal Yuppiechef. She is also a lover of all things scrumptious, a food blog writer (check out Deelihuss!) and has a kitchen full of beautiful tools (we know this). She attended the opening of a new, button-bright cupcakery in Cape Town last week, and sent us the scoop.
With walls painted in the tastiest pink hues and cupcakes, patisserie, biscuits, pies, heart-shaped lollies and rainbow sprinkles for all the eye to see - CakeBread, Pudding & Pie is a veritable dream for anyone with a sweet tooth and matching sweet heart.

Callie and Mari-Louis are a brother-sister team who create, style and bake with their heart and soul. This spirit is infused in their delicious offerings, and embodied in their brand, spanking new store at 71 Roeland Street, Cape Town. From the outside, their baby-girl pink building with original facades and wall decal, sets the tone for what’s in store. Even before stepping through the threshold into their fantasy land, you are greeted by fresh flowers and the aroma of butter-cream icing,  fresh coconut shavings and the citrus burst of a lemon meringue loaf.

Their signature delight, and pièce de résistance: the Red Velvet Cupcake. Will they be serving coffee? Probably not, says Candy (aptly named) who runs the store. CakeBread, Pudding & Pie is a speciality store for people to indulge in sweet and savoury treats, but more importantly, in the charm and joy of the simple pleasures found in all things baked.

To find out more, visit their website or pop in and visit them in Roeland Street”.

Thanks, Kamini. If you’re in Cape Town and head on over, let us know what you think.
